The beautiful Grizedale Lodge is a former hunting lodge that is nestled in the picturesque Grizedale Forest and is close to the delightful villages of Hawkshead and Coniston, as well as the ever popular Ambleside and Lake Windermere.

Grizedale Lodge is a small, intimate hotel that has just eight bedrooms, all spacious with great views of the surrounding countryside. Both breakfast and dinner is cooked with the freshest local produce and all guests are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome from the owners, the Charley family.

Accommodation

At the Grizedale Lodge, there are eight rooms from which to choose. Two four-poster rooms, two king-size, three doubles, and one twin. All rooms are en-suite and come complete with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside, as well as a Freeview TV, a DVD player, a hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. Free Wi-Fi is available although the signal may be stronger in some parts of the house than others due to the location in Grizedale Forest. Dogs are welcome at Grizedale Lodge at a cost of £10 per visit.

Restaurant and Bar

All guests enjoy a good choice of hot and cold food at breakfast time with choices changing on a daily basis. Examples include a traditional Cumbrian breakfast, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and a range of imaginative vegetarian options.

Dinner is served every day apart from Wednesdays and must be booked as all meals are cooked to order. Like breakfast, all dishes are prepared fresh with the finest local ingredients. Guests can choose from a wide range of drinks with their meal and if they want a drink at any other time, there is a well-stocked honesty bar that can be used at any time of day.

Additional Facilities and Services

Grizedale Lodge is a great choice of accommodation for walkers and cyclists as it is close to a number of fantastic cycling and walking trails. After a day on the fells, walkers can hose down their muddy boots and cycles and can also use a drying room free-of-charge for all their wet gear. As well as being able to provide discounts for cycle hire, Grizedale Lodge can also provide discounts to Go Ape, the UK’s number one forest outdoor activity centre.
