Woodlands Hotel & Pine Lodges

Whether you prefer hotel comforts or the freedom that self-catering accommodation brings, you will find something to tempt you at the Woodlands Hotel & Pine Lodges. Situated in southern edge of the Lake District, close to the seaside town of Grange-Over-Sands, this small rural retreat offers both hotel accommodation in a former country manor house, and self-catered accommodation in a selection of superbly appointed pine lodges.

The nearby Grange-Over-Sands has a delightful promenade that is perfect for seaside strolls, whilst the southern shore of Lake Windermere is a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Here you will find a selection of visitor attractions include the Lakes Aquarium, the Windermere Lake Cruises, and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.

Accommodation

Woodlands offers two types of accommodation. Housed in the hotel building there are five individually styled rooms, all of which have recently been refurbished. Each room benefits from en-suite bathrooms with baths and showers, and rooms offer delightful views of the hotel’s extensive grounds that include landscaped gardens and woodlands. In-room amenities include televisions with Freeview channels and DVD players, iPod docking stations, and tea and coffee making facilities. Wi-Fi is available, but it’s worth noting that due to the hotel’s rural location this can be intermittent and slow.

Alternatively, the hotel has a collection of pine lodges that are available to let on a self-catered basis. Each lodge has its own parking space and a grassed area. In the lounge of the lodges, you will find comfortable sofas, a television and a dining area. The fully equipped modern kitchens have everything you need to prepare meals during your stay, including an oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, and dishwasher. Some lodges also benefit from a washer-dryer. Each lodge has two bedrooms – one with a double bed and one with twin beds. The bathrooms certainly have the wow factor, fitted with spa baths, separate walk-in showers, and their own private saunas. The lodges are also fitted with electric heaters. It is worth noting that electricity is charged separately with meters in operation, and this extra cost should be factored in when booking your stay.

Restaurants & Bars

In the main hotel building, you will find the hotel’s restaurant and bar, which is open to residents and non-residents alike. Evening meals are available each day from 6pm, and the a la carte menu changes with the seasons. A separate children’s menu is also available, and the restaurant holds weekly specials, such as fish night and steak night. A full cooked breakfast is available each morning for hotel residents. In the bar, a small selection of meals and snacks are available, and these can be enjoyed either in the bar or in the conservatory.
